Poppies for remembrance
As part of Fleetwood in bloom, and to remember the fallen in this WWI centenary year, over 7000 Poppies were displayed around the town in 2018: on the Asda/Freeport roundabout, and in a very special installation at the Euston Gardens by the Willow Garden Project. We were even on BBC regional news! The poppies have now been taken down and will hopefully be further re-cycled as part of an art project in the town, however a few have been set aside to be purchased for the sum of £1 each. If you would like one of these poppies as a keepsake, please contact the Council office on 01253 872444. All funds raised will go towards Fleetwood In Bloom 2019.
FLEETWOOD IN BLOOM
Fleetwood Town Council are delighted to announce a hat-trick of awards at this years North West In Bloom competition! Not only did we win a much hoped for gold award in the large town category, but we were also awarded the INTU community trophy for community effort and an outstanding contribution award for our Community Development officer Dawn Spooner.
Thank you to the Plant Place, Builder Supplies, Farmer Parrs, Walsh’s and our local businesses for their generous support for this years’ entry. This would not have happened without our tremendous volunteers, community groups and schools.
FLEETWOOD MARSH NATURE PARK
A beautiful, hidden part of rural Fleetwood. Home to diverse wildlife, plants and migrating birds. Favorite haunt of Fleetwood’s fantastic photographers! See below for information on the Town Councils involvement in the site
2018 got off to a great start with a race night fundraiser in May and donations, Bucket collections and the Christmas ball at the Parkside suite made over £3000 towards the lights.
