At the meeting of 25th June the Town Council decided to appoint a disability Champion, who will be a focal point for members of the public who require assistance and support, Their role will be to keep up to date with any disability issues affecting the community, signpost the public to relevant services and help with any gaps they see in services (i.e. report dropped kerbs that have pot holes in them, take note of lack of provision in place for disabled people, accessibility issues etc.). The Disability Champion will attend meetings and liaise with Disability groups within the town so they have an up to date knowledge base of where people can be signposted to, and in what circumstance. The council feel it is important to demonstrate that they are inclusive, and care about disability issues.
Your Disability Champion is Councillor Rachel George, and she can be contacted on 07860156500, Rachel.George@wyre.gov.uk
